Changes are coming
A lot of things have been going on behind the scenes for the past few months and I feel relief knowing most of it is coming to an end. The amount of stress I put on myself isn’t helpful when there’s so much to get done.
I’m still riding this full time artist wave and it’s getting busier. This month is a big one for me. I released a poetry collection, Temporary Lovers, a book trailer, and third poetry visual, Welcome To Your Eulogy. On top of these projects I’ve been booked for shows the whole month! I’ve got another big show on Friday at The Delancey coming up at 7pm. It’ll be a one hour show, so be sure to grab your tickets! I’m also hosting my very own open mic series called “Estacion Creation” in Brentwood on February 25th. *sorry, there’s been a lot of promo lately*
But, with all that going on and the amount of time, energy, and money invested into these projects, it’s been hard having faith that I can keep this full time gig forever. I’ve applied to jobs in my field (social work) and was hired with a non-profit agency to start in early March.
Please pray for me, because I have been loving this not reporting to anyone thing. It’s freeing knowing I’m not on a schedule or stressed over someone else’s issues. I have time for me and my art projects and I think the work I’ve put out speaks for itself…I was meant to be an artist! Being stuck behind a desk doesn’t sit right with me so I have been dreading this moment, but I’ve got to be realistic. I have more art that needs to be funded and completed and the only way I can do that now is by going to work.
So, I say all that to say there are going to be some changes happening with this blog and my artist journey. I’ve used this more as a personal blog sharing my thoughts and feelings about whatever’s been going on, but I’m planning to switch gears and make this more useful to you as a reader.
I'm writing two blogs a month now and I want to narrow down on a few things I can help you with. I’ve been stepping into some new roles lately and have been going full force with my art in all mediums. I’ve been writing since I was 10 years old, and performing since 2015, and during that time I’ve learned a thing or two about being a performer and growing as an artist. I want to share some of that knowledge and journey with you. Over these next few weeks I’ll be organizing topics that will help you reach your full potential as an artist and start a new series on my blog.
To be transparent, this blog series will be subscription based very soon, but don’t worry, it will be affordable and I will let you know when the subscription starts and all the details to come. I just wanted to give you a heads up as a thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I’ll also be starting a vlog version of these blogs by March so make sure you are subscribed on Youtube! *Last promo I promise.
I’m looking forward to making more content for y’all. Thank you so much for the support I’ve been flooded with these past few weeks, I’m grateful for it all. I appreciate your support and want you to feel supported in your journey as well. Let me know what kind of stuff you want to read more about so I can touch on these topics next time. I can’t wait to keep sharing parts of this journey with you. Big changes are coming!
With infinite love,
Jessica
