I’m working on it

I meant to start my vlogs this weekend but I couldn’t stop overthinking it. Plus, I’ve got a big change in my life. After 8 months of not working I start a new job tomorrow. Between work and the commute I’ll be losing 10 hours of my day. I valued the freedom I had not working, but I love the security that’s coming shortly. I’m nervous for what this means in my art.

I’ve been driving myself crazy of everything I wanted to get done before starting work. I already feel like I have no time and I need to just breathe. Being an artist isn’t something that’s determined by a day job. I was still an artist before and I’ll make sure to find the time once I get adjusted. I’m trying to be intentional with my time, focus on the positive, and chase after my goals.

I made some artwork and started a new hobby of crafting with cardboard.

I created a Pinterest page where I’ll be sharing more of that work, if you want to follow.

I was able to accomplish a lot during my time away from the corporate world.

Most recently I hosted the first open mic in Brentwood, at La Estacion. I’m trying to create a space where everyone can connect through art despite language barriers.

Hosting the open mic in both English and Spanish gives me the opportunity to bring together the community where I grew up in. It was a great first open mic. Sorry if you missed it. But don’t worry! The next one is on April 29th. Sign up is at 6:45pm and the show will start around 7:15pm. I hope to see you there and don’t forget to bring a friend!

I’m working on a few projects and can’t wait to share them with you all. Make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube as I’ll be posting more videos on there very soon. Thank you so much for the support on these past visuals I’ve done. I’m grateful for every positive comment and words of encouragement you’ve given me. You’re helping me recognize my talents during this journey, and how I’m capable of achieving greater things. Which is why I’ll be working on helping you reach your full potential as well. I mentioned in my last blog about wanting to make these posts more useful to you. I’ve been working on an outline of blogs for the rest of the year and different ways I can help you grow as an artist. These will be the type of blogs I include in my upcoming subscription plan. I’ll let you know when that’s coming and what to expect. I know this blog was late and I’d hate for you to think I won’t be consistent. I have my hands full with creativity and I’m grateful for the safe space and patience you give me while I work on things.

I’ll let you know more about the different projects I have up my sleeve in due time. But, until then, go check out these visuals and order a copy of Temporary Lovers. I appreciate your support more than anything, especially now.

With infinite love,

Jessica
